You may have read my previous post about the Cherry Pit, a swingers club in a private residence in Texas, that's being hassled from local government.

Here's a video showing what I feels proof this is really about other people trying to force THEIR STANDARDS on those with different beliefs.

is being harassed!

I've about had it with self proclaimed moralist pushing THEIR so called standards on the rest of society.

Let's face the truth and look at some of the facts.

Cities and counties will use the excuse of breaking "community standards"

Answer first who is "the community"?

Is it the people who live in the community or the people elected as officials who are the community who decide on "community standards"?

One of the most interesting cases I remember regarding community standards was in non other than Salt Lake City, Utah the Mormon's home base.

A local respected business owner was cited and eventually prevented from selling adult videos. He was loosing customers because his Salt Lake City customers DID in fact want adult videos.

The video store owners lawyer figured there would be no better way to decided exactly what the "community standards" were than to subpoenaed the records of Salt Lake City cable company.

Yep - his lawyer figured if cable records could prove that adult content was in demand and watched in the community that's a good way of indicating the "community standard"

Indeed what the cable records showed in the Mormon capital of the world was that "adult content" was the MOST requested and viewed content in the community!

Please don't think I'm against or dislike Mormons. I'm simply using this as an example because it actually happened and was profiled on television several years ago.

Interestingly the lawyer for the video business was in fact A Mormon!

I applaud that man for believing as strongly in the freedom of speech and expression before his own religious or moral beliefs.

Yes I'm fully aware that the swingers Sex club The Cherry Pit was not publicly targeted because of so called community standards.

The county went after them for other violations and I'm sure it's because they know without a doubt the "community standard" argument would not hold up.

We should all keep an eye on this story and fight for our rights to attend private swingers parties in the area we live in or wherever we choose.
